Mobile Food Pantry News
Congratulations on all our churches participating in the Mobile Food Pantry! You’ve done a wonderful job! Although several of you have been working with the Food Bank of the Albemarle for much longer, the District as a whole has just broke the one year mark with it’s involvement with the Food Bank and the Duke Endowment. The Duke Grant has allowed many more families to receive food that otherwise would have been at a loss to feed themselves. We are most grateful for all your efforts with this project.
Now, the state of the grant funds …..
As of April 1, 2010 we have exhausted approximately 2/3 of the grant funds. Therefore, any church currently relying on the grant funds to sustain their MFP project must be looking for alternate financial sources to help supplement the church funds in place of the Duke grant funds. Although we are exploring the possibility of receiving another Duke Grant, there are no guarantees
that they will be forthcoming with more funding. We anticipate the pool of current funds to be depleted by late summer.
