About Us

The Elizabeth City District of the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church covers the 13 counties of Northeastern North Carolina stretching roughly from Murfreesboro to Ocracoke Island on the NC Outer Banks.  Within these bounds are over 40 United Methodist Charges.

The district is overseen by a District Superintendent, the Rev. Richard Stone, from his office in Elizabeth City.

A district superintendent is  a church elder who has supervisory responsibilities for churches in a geographic area, usually several counties. There are 12 district the North Carolina Conference, covering the Eastern half of the state. This district is named is for the city where the superintendent resides.
